Well, well, well.... Nightrain members, it's the end of the European tour... As well as the first leg of the Because What You Want N' What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things tour!
After the heat in Sofia, we headed to the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria for a show at the Ernst Happel Stadion. We had two opening acts with us. Wolfmother and The Sex Pistols Featuring Frank Carter. The latter had to wait for the bad weather to pass before they could start their set. The weather sure changed compared to Sofia.
Axl dedicated the show to Ozzy Osbourne and the band played two Black Sabbath songs. From Austria, the tour headed to a new country, Luxembourg. Another outdoor show, this time without rain!
One more overnight bus ride for the crew, and we arrived in Hamburg, Germany for the last show on this leg. Speaking of Hamburg, did you know GN'R haven't played Hamburg since their first European tour back in 1987?
They didn't play in the city this time either, but they were headlining the Thursday night at the Wacken Open Air festival's Harder stage. The festival is held in the country side outside of Hamburg.
Some rain on Wednesday turned the fields into muddy festival grounds. Fortunately there was less rain on show day.
Guns N' Roses finished this leg of the tour with a festival show that was over three hours long!
30 shows over three months in Asia, the Middle East amd Europe. Plus one appearance at Ozzy's final show in Birmingham, UK on July 5th.
27 different countries visited. Five completely new countries where GN'R never played before (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Lithuania N' Luxembourg). Plus some where Axl, Duff and Slash never played together before, such as India, Serbia N' Bulgaria).
Hope you enjoyed this tour as much as we did. Now time for some rest before the band starts their next leg.
See you soon in Latin America!
